Clifford J. Maki, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at UMass Memorial Health Care – University Campus, after a short illness. Born in Worcester and raised in Holden, he was a son of John A. and Mae H. (Noponen) Maki. Clifford was very proud of his Finnish heritage.

He was a graduate of Wachusett High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Grand Canyon from 1958 to 1962. In his younger years he could often be found fishing and was especially fond of fly fishing. Clifford was a passionate sports fan who was devoted to the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins. He was an avid music lover and took every opportunity to sing for his family. Clifford looked forward to visiting the WCUW, 91.3 FM radio station in Worcester where he was recently honored by his close friends.

Clifford will be lovingly missed and remembered by his beloved wife, Mary (Bures) Maki of Worcester; three sons including, Joel C. Maki, Justin P. Maki and Jason A. Maki, all of Worcester; a brother, Norman P. Maki and his wife, Frances (Turpin) Maki of Holden; two nephews, Jeffrey and Jay Maki; and cousins, Joyce Majcher and Norma McCarthy.

Services are private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to World Vision, P.O. Box 9716, Federal Way, WA 98063 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family.
