     Christina Mathilda (Quiry) LaPlante, 87, of 25 Pakachoag Village, Auburn, died Monday, October 2nd due to complications of acute leukemia in Holy Trinity Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Her husband, of 36 years, Raymond J. “Rocky” LaPlante died in 1987. She leaves three children, Judith Fobes of Manchester, NH, Steven LaPlante and Suzanne Sousa and her husband, David all of Worcester; six grandchildren, Steven LaPlante, Jr., Andrew LaPlante, Olivia Carnevale, Hilary Wilczek, Holly Christina Athanasiou, Abigayl Rae Sousa and six great grandchildren, Karmine, Makayla LaPlante, Wyatt and Rose Carnevale, Achilles Athanasiou and Georgia Wilczek. She was predeceased by her eight siblings, Alice, Wilfred, Yvonne, Armand, Rose, Napoleon, Joseph and Marion.
She was born in Hartford, Connecticut the daughter of Napoleon and Rose (Boucher) Quiry and made her home in Auburn with Rocky since 1964. As a young girl, she attended French Catholic School in Worcester, Ecole Ste.-Famille under the teachings of the Nuns Order of St. Anne. She was employed as a bank teller at Worcester Five Cents Savings Bank and at the Worcester Common Outlets, as a representative of customer service. Christina enjoyed her family immensely. She was an avid reader, loved newspaper crossword puzzles, playing cards and listening to music.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to James Harshaw, Dr. Ahmad Siddiqui, Holy Trinity Nursing Home, Central MA Hospice and the VNA of Southern Worcester County for the compassion and support during Christina’s illness.
Her funeral is Friday, October 6th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph’s Church, 35 Hamilton Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, October 5th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Christina’s name to the Auburn Life Care Center, 14 Masonic Circle, Auburn, MA 01501 or Holy Trinity Nursing Home, 300 Barber Avenue, Worcester, MA 01606 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 9 Erie Drive, Natick, MA 01760.
