Charles A. “Arnie” Berry, 75, formerly of Holden died peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2018 at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro, NC.  He was born in Holden, the son of Harold Sr. and Viola (Sheard) Berry and graduated from Wachusett High School.

Arnie’s life was one dedicated to his family and service to his country.  After graduating High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served in Germany.  After being wounded in the course of duty, Arnie returned home.  He later joined the Leicester Police Department where he served for 16 years.  After retirement he moved to North Carolina to be closer with his beloved children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Arnie had been active with the VFW Post 288 in Worcester, the American Legion and AMVETS in Asheboro, NC.  He enjoyed singing, dancing, golfing and was an avid Patriots fan.  Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family.

Arnie was predeceased by his wife, Sarah (Kenerson) Berry in 2013.  He is survived by his daughters, Angela Nixon and her husband, Jeffrey of Franklinville, NC and Anita Hooker of Asheboro, NC; his grandchildren, Celeste, Aaron, Jada, Ashley, Brittany, Felecia and C.J.; six great grandchildren; his sisters, Gladys Chilleri of Holden and Dorothy Munhall of Uxbridge; brothers, Gerald Berry of Holden and David Berry and his wife, Jean of Worcester; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  Arnie was predeceased by seven brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12th at St. George Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester.  Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Veteran’s Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.  Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
