Subscription Update Obituary

Cecile A. (Moquin) Cortis, 98 of Worcester, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Holy Trinity Nursing Center.

Cecile was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Albert and Albina (Duhamel) Moquin.  She attended Worcester schools and has lived here all her life.

Cecile’s husband of 58 years, Carleton E. Cortis passed in 2005. Cecile is survived by her three sons, Stephen C. Cortis and his wife Suzanne of Falmouth, Wayne M. Cortis of Peabody and Barry A. Cortis and his wife Valerie of Tennessee; her daughter, Cindy C. Therien and her husband Denis of Worcester; a daughter-in-law, Ann Cortis of Rutland; ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family.  She is predeceased by a son, Kevin D. Cortis and a daughter-in-law, Anne Cortis; nine siblings.

A period of calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 20th from 9:30-10:30 am with her funeral immediately following at 10:30 am in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME &CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.  Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation via online at www.jdrf.org or to a charity of one’s choice.
