Subscription Update Obituary

     Bertha M. “Betty” (Shea) Saine, 97, of Worcester died July 13th. Mom, Gram, Great Grammy and Betty Boop as she was known was married 40 years to Stuart W. Saine, Sr., who died in 1981. She leaves two sons, Richard J. Saine of Worcester and Stuart W. Saine, Jr. of Jupiter, FL; three daughters, Judith A. Gabis and her husband, William of Worcester, Ellen E. Cabana of West Palm Beach and Jean F. O’Malley and her husband, John of Grafton; a brother Philip Shea of Worcester; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers, Michael, Patrick and Francis Shea and a sister Barbara Cleveland.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Michael and Bertha (Moreau) Shea. She had worked in various jobs throughout her life, the latest as a caregiver to the elderly in Worcester. She enjoyed trips with the senior groups, was an avid line dancer, but especially loved time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the kindness and care provided by the staff of Summit Elder Care, Ace Medical Services and the Home Staff Agency.

Her funeral is Friday, July 17th with a service at 10:00 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours are Thursday, July 16th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Summit Elder Care, 277 East Mountain Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
