Subscription Update Obituary

     Bertha Louise (Connors) Haskins, age 95, a lifelong resident of Holden, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2017 under the loving care of her family and staff at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester.

She was born on November 19, 1921 in Holden, a daughter of John Henry and Bertha L. (Miller) Connors.  She was a graduate of Holden High School and attended Becker Junior College.  For 36 years, she was a school bus driver for Holden Sand and Gravel, serving the Wachusett Regional School District.

In her younger years, Bertha was an avid bowler in the West Boylston Bowling League.

Her husband of 55 years, Ralph L. Haskins, died in 1994.  She leaves her daughters, Jane L. Simpson and her husband, Edward of West Yarmouth and Jean E. Jennings of Boylston; her grandson, Kevin LeGacy of NY, her two great-grandchildren, AnneKate and James LeGacy.  She was predeceased by her two sisters, Irene Burk and Ruth Keith and several step-brothers and step-sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon followed by a funeral service in celebration of Bertha’s life on Tuesday, August 22, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.  Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton.

Memorial donations may be made to the Holden Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 190, Holden, MA 01520.
