Subscription Update Obituary

     Bernice (Rudzinski) Checheta, 95, of Worcester, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in River Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lancaster, MA. Her husband John J. Checheta died in 1982. She is survived by two grandsons, Andrew and Benjamin Checheta; brothers, Robert Rudzinski of Worcester and Theodore J. Rhodes of Lakeland, FL; sister Marion Bergman of Lakeland, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, John J. Checheta, Jr; brothers Vincent, Chester and Joseph Rudzinski. She was born in Worcester a daughter of Wincenty and Mary (Swillo) Rudzinski.

Mrs. Checheta worked many years at Parker Manufacturing and retired from Union Street Manufacturing as a stitcher. She was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Bernice centered her life around her two grandsons, Benjamin and Andrew. Her love and devotion to them was very special. In her spare time when not sewing or making clothing, she could be found perusing cookie recipes or watching NCIS. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of River Terrace for their kindness and care provided to Bernice while she lived with them.

The funeral will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 with a service at 11:00 a.m. in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, ;memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s foundation 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472
