Subscription Update Obituary

Bernice J.M. (Arruda) Bottom, Gomes, McNeaney, 67, of Worcester went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, August 17 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center. Her husband, Peter McNeaney predeceased her on March 1, 1994. She was the daughter of the late Ruth (Stockwell) Shadburn who died on April 21, 1984. Her brother, Paul Stockwell died in February 2000. Her sister Carol Hill died on November 7, 2019. She leaves a daughter, Tia M. Fanelli of Worcester, and a son, Richard W. Bottom, Jr and his wife, Sheila of Florida; one sister, Linda Lamontagne of Worcester; a brother, Steven Murray and his wife, Kandy of Richmond, MI; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bernice worked as a nurse’s aide in Worcester for many years, before becoming disabled. She enjoyed helping people, having and going to yard sales, and riding her motorcycle. She was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association and loved going to church and going to Christian coffee houses. She was also involved as a missionary for His Mission, traveling all around the world with the author, Barbara Hanson helping others who were abused, and speaking and ministering to teens and others who need help.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 27 at 2:00 PM in the Freedom Worship Center, 141 West Boylston St., West Boylston. A Private Burial will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park. Arrangements in the care of Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston.
