Subscription Update Obituary

     Bernice Baines Lucas Adjeman, of Worcester, MA, exchanged her human body for a heavenly body on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. “Tiny”, as she was affectionately known, was born in Nash County, NC on October 8, 1938 to the late Elizbeth (Parker) and Willie Roy Baines. Tiny will be remembered for her caring heart and love for her Lord and Savior. She was a devoted church mother at Matthew 25:36 Ministries in Charlotte, NC where she was known to visit with the sick and shut-in. She was also a church mother at Faith Tabernacle in Worcester, MA. Prior to her declining heath, she turned her love for giving and caring towards her mother and became her fulltime care-taker.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Iola Lucas Vance (Dewitt) of Worcester, MA; Willistine Johnson Sherard of Wilson, NC; Bonnie Lucas Boakey of Worcester, MA; Walter Lucas (Debra) of Worcester, MA; Roy Lucas Jr. of Worcester, MA; Deborah Lucas Jackson of Waterbury, CT; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren. Two brothers, Jerome Baines (Julie) of New York; Sylvester Clyde Baines of Worcester, MA; one sister, Sylvia L Baines of Westbury, NY; two aunts: Dorothy Braswell of Wilson, NC; Inez Rountree (Jessie) of Elm City, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Belmont A.M.E Zion Church, 55 Illinois St., Worcester, MA 01610, with Pastor James Parker officiating; a Calling Hour will take place before the service from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Burial will take place in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. Professional services are entrusted to Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA.
