Basil was my father and while he and his wife, my mother Florence were not very compatible for each other during their 47 years together, Bill and my amazing mom, Florence (who passed away in 2014 at age 97) cared about and for me regularly an deeply.. Bill (or Basil) worked a tough, demanding job for many many years at American Steel and Wire and was really the breadwinner, despite the frequent work strikes there. Prior to marriage, he had to enlist and thereby became active in World War Two as a soldier, receiving a purple heart after a gunshot wound int he field during the later stages of world war II. My last time I saw him was in a nursing home just before he died at 77 years...we hugged and both of us expressed our love and he said to them to "have fun...keep happy."
