Subscription Update Obituary

Barbara J. Rosen, 73, of Leicester, formerly of Worcester passed away Sunday, March 26th at home peacefully after a long battle with multiple health issues. She leaves her husband of 41 years, Stephen N. Rosen; two sons, Jonathan Rosen of North Grafton, and Andrew Rosen and his wife, Victoria of Mashpee; a daughter, Rebecca Schlesser and her husband, Timothy of Dayville, CT; two sisters, Marilyn Loxley and her husband, George of Charlton, and Jean Evanowski and her husband, Robert of Auburn; a brother, Paul Cook and his wife, Sandi of Millbury; her four beloved grandchildren, Emma Claire, Avery Joan, Andie Belle, and Maverick James; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was born in Ware the daughter of Robert F. and Joan P. (Cogswell) Cook and graduated from David Hale Fanning Trade School and its school of Health Occupations, where she received her LPN. Barbara earned her RN from Mt. Wachusett Community College and her BSN from Assumption University. Barbara worked for St. Vincent Hospital for 44 years, retiring in 2017. On several occasions, Barbara was commended for the care she rendered to her patients.
Barbara was a fierce supporter of her children, there was no stronger advocate for her son, Jonathan as he dealt with the shortcomings of Cerebral Palsy. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Barbara enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod, casinos, and cruising to Bermuda.

The family would like to thank UMass Memorial, especially Dr. Curtis Barry, Cape Cod Hospital, and the VNA Care of Worcester for the care they rendered to Barbara.

Her funeral is Friday, March 31st at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seven Hills Residential Services, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, or the VNA Care of Worcester. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is assisting the family with arrangements.
