Subscription Update Obituary

Barbara J. (Beecher) Charbonneau, 97, died peacefully on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center, Worcester. She was born and raised in Bennington, VT the daughter of the late William H. and Jennie M. (Finlan) Beecher and graduated from Bennington High School.

Barbara earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Vermont. She went on to teach at the elementary level in Vergennes, VT and later Niles, Illinois. She married her beloved, Robert C. Charbonneau, and later settled in Holden. Later Barbara worked in the Operations Center of Worcester County National Bank, then in the accounting department at Shawmut Bank and Bank of America in Worcester. Barbara attended St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Robert C. Charbonneau in 1996. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Cindy) J. Kazanovicz of Palm Bay, Florida and Eileen Charbonneau with whom she lived; her granddaughters, Jennifer (Benoit) Bragg and her husband, Michael of Worcester and Rachel (Benoit) Bergman and her husband, Christopher of Peoria, Arizona, as well as 25 nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. Barbara was also predeceased by her brothers, Thornton Beecher, Paul Beecher, Donald Beecher, Theodore Beecher, and her sisters, Joan (Beecher) Charbonneau, and Gail (Beecher) Hrycay.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Parish, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson, MA or Memory Care Unit Program at St. Mary’s Health Care Center, c/o Susan Oldrid, Executive Director of Philanthropy, 39 Queen Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
