Subscription Update Obituary

Barbara A. (Daniels) Sylvester, 78, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in Marlborough Hospital surrounded by her family. She leaves her husband of 60 years, Douglas R. Sylvester of Marlborough; two sons, Douglas D. Sylvester and his wife, Melissa of Marlborough, and Robert G. Sylvester and his wife, Melony of Holden; a brother, Richard P. Daniels and his wife, Brenda of Oxford; two adored grandchildren, Morgan and Ryan Sylvester of Holden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born in Neptune, NJ. She is preceded by both her parents, Norman L. Daniels and his wife, Anna R. (Bennett) Daniels. Barbara was a graduate of Commerce High School and received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University. She then worked as a financial analyst at the Digital Equipment Corporation for 20 years. Barbara was a very active member of the Marlborough Women’s Junior Club and was a vice president of the PTA at the school her children attended. She was an avid bookworm and loved to read. She shared her love for books with others and hosted a book club at her home. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Word Wars, jigsaw puzzles, and doing all sorts of different arts and crafts. Barbara loved to travel with her family whether it was a going on a cruise or driving cross country. One of her favorite places to visit was Bermuda. She was deeply loved and will be missed.

Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. followed by a brief service beginning at 10:30 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 or to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 West 44th Street, Suite 609, New York, NY 1036.
