Subscription Update Obituary

Astrid S. George passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. She was 81. Born in Ilford, England, Astrid was the daughter of Arthur J. and Bronia (Novicki) Aubrey and lived the last 58 years in Leicester.

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 62 years, Ronald C. George; two sons, Jason A. George and his wife Louise of Holyoke and Barry J. George and his wife, Patricia of Leicester; and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Daniel and Amelia George.

Astrid received her formal education in England. After moving to Long Island in 1951, Astrid attended Becker Junior College in Worcester where she met her husband. They married in January of 1959 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Worcester moving to Leicester in 1959.

Before raising her family, she worked at Crompton and Knowles and later worked over 20 years part-time at the Main Street McDonalds in Worcester. She was active at the Leicester Senior Center where she member of the Knitting and Book Clubs. She was an avid reader and would read three books a week, and was also a diehard Boston Red Sox fan.

A funeral service honoring Astrid’s life will be celebrated privately at the Miles Funeral Home in Holden followed by interment at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Chance Animal Services, 111Young Rd., East Brookfield, MA 01515.
