Subscription Update Obituary

     Arlene L. (Matthess) Brigham, 91, formerly of Ludlow Street, died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Willows of Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph E. Brigham in 1992. Arlene is survived by her brother, Walter Matthess of Lawrenceburg, TN and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by six brothers, Hilton, Lawrence, Maynard, Kenneth, Jr, Charles and Lemoine Matthess.

She was born in Muscatine, Iowa, daughter of the late Kenneth L. Matthess, Sr. and Lurla M. (Whalen) Matthess. Arlene worked at Chess King for many years before retiring. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and in earlier years bowling and gardening. Arlene was also a true fan of her beloved Red Sox.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, February 3rd at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Willows, 101 Barry Road, Worcester from 2-3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Arlene’s memory may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.

Arrangements are in the care of CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester.
