Anthony G. Zekos passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side Monday, December 6, 2021, after a two-year courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was 48. Born in Worcester, Anthony was the son of Maria K. (Paskalis) Zekos and the late Gregory P. Zekos and lived most of his life in Holden.

He graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1991 and later from Quinsigamond Community College where he received a degree in Business Administration. After working for A-Z Vending Company for several years, Anthony started his own business GGF-ATM which he ran for 17 years. He met the love of his life, Heidi Bessel in 1998; they married on November 2, 2002, at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester. Anthony and Heidi then moved to Holden where they raised their three sons and made many lifelong friends.

First and foremost, Anthony was a family man. He cherished time spent with his sons whether it be attending or volunteering at their sporting events, school activities, skiing, snowmobiling or four-wheeling on ATV’s. He looked forward to spending time with his family and friends at his family’s summer home in Dennisport. He especially enjoyed power boating off the coast of Rhode Island or simply relaxing at the beach.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Anthony including hanging out with the “Avery Height’s Gang” discussing everything from politics to sports. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends as a devoted husband, super dad, caring son and trusted friend.

He leaves his beloved wife of 19 years, Heidi M. (Bessel) Zekos; three sons, Gregory A., Alex M., and Anthony J. Zekos all of Holden; his mother, Maria K. (Paskalis) Zekos of Holden; a brother, Christopher G. Zekos of Holden; a sister, Joanna M. Vasalofsky and her husband, Stephen of Rutland; his father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Donna (Gosler) Bessel of Holden; a nephew, several nieces and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Anthony’s family from 3 to 7 pm on Sunday, December 12, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 13, at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester. The Rev. Fr. Christopher Stamas will be officiating. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester, MA 01609, or PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 (www.pancan.org).
