Anthony A. Teixeira, Jr., “Tex” 85, a longtime Worcester resident, passed away surrounded by loved ones Wednesday March 8, 2023.

Tony was born in Milford, on October 10, 1937, the son of Anthony A. Teixeira Sr. and Julia (Bento) Teixeira. After graduating from Milford High School he joined the U.S. Navy proudly serving his country during the beginnings of Vietnam. After discharge he started working for Taylor Winery and met the love of his life, Rosemarie Pascarelli. They married in 1962 and began a life of love, family, and devotion raising their family in Worcester. After nearly 57 years of marriage, Ro left Tony’s side, just over 4 years to the day on March 2, 2019. Tex worked for the family business John and Son’s Market which was known for Clem’s Italian sausage for many years.  He then worked for the custodial department of Worcester Vocational High School for more than 20 years before retiring.

He is survived by his three devoted children, Lisa Marie Teixeira and her husband Jay Wickham of Pembroke, Paul Teixeira and his husband Lee Kugler of Chelsea, Joseph Teixeira and his wife Susan of Millbury; three grandchildren, Ethan Teixeira, Kasey Teixeira and Anthony Teixeira-Kugler; sister Mary Ferreira of Pocasset; sisters-in-law, Lucy Pascarelli of Richardson Texas and Lillian Pascarelli of Worcester, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Casey Teixeira, sister Hilda Joy, nephews John Teixeira, Anthony Teixeira, and Joshua Posey.

Anthony was a member of St John’s Church, and the Lawrence Chapter 6, of the Disabled American Veterans Post.   He was a man with a huge heart, and giant smile whose most memorable moments were those spent with his children and grandchildren.

A period of calling hours for Anthony will be held Sunday, March 19th from 3 pm to 5 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL,  370 Plantation St.  His funeral will be held Monday, March 20th from the funeral home with a procession to St John’s Church, 44 Temple St where his Mass will be celebrated at 11 am.  Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.  In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to Vet’s Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, or a charity of your choice.
