     Anne Marie (Picard) Lawrence, 69, of Charlton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday April 9th, 2016 at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester, MA.

Anne Marie was born in Worcester, MA the daughter of the late Paul and Irene (Plamondon) Picard. She graduated from Fanning Girl’s trade high school where she studied to become a seamstress. During her studies at Fanning she created a beautiful christening dress in preparation of her Godchild’s arrival. All of her family members born to this date have been christened in this dress made from her incredibly talented hands. Anne Marie then worked as a Bank Teller for Guarantee Bank, the former WCIS and later Bank of America before retiring in 1985.

Anne Marie also worked for Spag’s and Holy Cross College, among other local establishments.

Anne Marie was a parishioner at Saint Joseph’s Church in Charlton. She was a proud Democrat and very active in local politics over the years. Anne Marie also enjoyed being involved with the community founding the Worcester Lou Gehrig League Girls’ Softball Division the 1980’s. Anne Marie liked the occasional trips to Mohegan Sun Casino and traveling to Hampton Beach and Cape Cod with friends and family during the summer months. She was the happiest when she was cooking, entertaining and spending time with her family and friends whom she cherished above anything. She was known to be extremely giving to her friends and family in their time of need, no matter what the need, she was there to support them.

Anne Marie leaves behind her beloved husband of fifty years Michael W. Lawrence. She is also survived by her daughter, Nicole (Lawrence) Szretter and her husband Scott of Charlton; three grandchildren, Logan, Jordyn, and Kathryn; a brother, William Picard and his wife Gayle of Beverly; two sisters, Pauline Trainor and her husband Thomas of North Grafton and Denise Picard and her life partner Craig Jacobson of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Margaret Picard of Worcester and many nieces and nephews and many lifelong dear friends. In addition to her parents, Paul and Irene, Anne Marie was also predeceased by her son, Paul Lawrence in 1985 and a brother, Ronald Picard in 1978.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family during calling hours on Wednesday, April 13th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Thursday, April 14th, from the funeral home with a procession to Saint Joseph’s Church, 10 H Putnam Rd Extension, Charlton, MA, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA.
