Anna (Zalopa) Bures, 92, died peacefully on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the Jewish Healthcare Center, surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born in Germany, a daughter of the late Peter and Eva (Lipco) Zalopa.

Anna immigrated to the United States with her oldest daughter following World War II with help from Catholic Charities, settling in southern Connecticut before moving to the Worcester area 40 years ago. She devoted her life to caring for her family and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and helping others through her volunteer work.

Anna is survived by her five children, Mary Maki and her husband, Clifford of Worcester, Helen Urbanovitch and her husband, Steven of Paxton, Ann Bures of San Antonio, TX, Frank Bures, Jr. and his companion, Judy Pagliaro, and John Bures and his wife, Gilda, all of Shelton, CT; her seven grandchildren, Joel, Justin, Jason, Cody, Shannon, Amanda, and McKenzie; and her great-granddaughter, Teresa.

Her family would like to thank the staff of the memory care floors of the Jewish Healthcare Center and the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence for the compassion, care and kindness they gave Anna over the last six years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 30, at St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
