Subscription Update Obituary

     Ann Marie (Hawkesworth) Sabulis, 72, a longtime educator, died on August 11, 2018 at her home after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 49 years, Ronald Sabulis, and her son Michael, daughter-in-law Tricia and granddaughter Hannah of West Newbury, her brother James Hawkesworth of Worcester, and her two sisters Mary Hawkesworth of Philadelphia, Pa. and Eleanor Hawkesworth of Arlington, Va. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Harold W. and Florence M. (Ahern) Hawkesworth.

Mrs. Sabulis graduated from Ascension High School, Fitchburg State College, and Clark University. For more than three decades, she taught English, primarily in the Worcester Public Schools including Providence St. Junior High School, Burncoat Middle School and Doherty Memorial High School. She retired in 2008.

She was a member of the Worcester County Retired Teachers Association and had a long history of volunteering in the community devoting time to Rape Crisis of Central Mass, AdCare Hospital, UMass Cardiac Unit, and Worcester State University ELL Class for Senior Citizens.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 16, from the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, with a Mass at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street in Worcester. Burial will be at the Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday August 15, in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or the UMass-Memorial Healthcare System.
