Subscription Update Obituary

     Aline (Laurence) Sviklas, 97, formerly of Millbury and Northbridge, died Friday, May 29, 2015 in Genesis, Milford Center. Her husband, William I. Sviklas, died in 1988, and her first husband, Allen J. Ostergaard, died in 1962. She is survived by a son, William E. Ostergaard, Jr., and his wife, Linda Lawson-Ostergaard, of Coconut Creek, FL; a daughter, Judith A. Sundell, of Northbridge; three grandchildren, Eric, Mark and Joel Ostergaard, two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Claire Roy, and Jeanne Richard, of Worcester. She was predeceased by a son, Allen J. Ostergaard, Jr,. two brothers, Arthur and Edmond Laurence, and two sisters, Loretta Bleau and Dora Dubuque.

Mrs. Sviklas was born in Worcester, May 17, 1918, a daughter of Joseph and Alexina (Grenier) Laurence. She grew up in Worcester, and graduated from South High School. She lived in Millbury, Northbridge, and Coconut Creek, FL. for many years before moving to Milford in 2007.

Mrs. Sviklas worked at the Paul Revere Life Insurance Company in Worcester for 20 years prior to retiring in 1976.

She was a member of the Hosanna Christian Fellowship in Millbury. She was an accomplished baker, loved word games, and especially enjoyed hosting parties and family gatherings at her home on Dorothy Pond in Millbury.

Mrs. Sviklas’ Funeral will be private, and there are no Calling Hours. Memorial donations may be made to Abbey’s House, 52 High Street, Worcester, MA, 01609.

The Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
