Alice F. Samberg, 95, peacefully left this earth on June 26, 2015. She rejoined her husband of 49 years, Bernard Samberg. Alice was a beautiful, kind, positive and lovable woman. She often thanked everyone for caring for her, which made doing so a pleasure. Alice and her husband were both born, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. They moved with their children to Massachusetts and owned and operated Huston’s Shoes with stores throughout Massachusetts. After retiring, they moved to Florida. They loved to dance, and people often cleared the floor to watch them dance. In 2009 Alice moved to West Springfield to live with her son Richard and his wife Mary. She made many friends in West Springfield. Alice is survived by her son Lawrence Samberg and his wife Susan of Catskill, New York, her daughter Vivian Samberg Killoran of West Boylston, MA and her son Richard Samberg and his wife Attorney Mary Samberg. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Springfield Senior Center or Mercy Hospice. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-6PM at the Toomey-O’Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield with a Funeral Home Service at 6PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
