Subscription Update Obituary

     Alice Emily (Sykes) Killion, 91, of Holden, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning. Born in Mattapoisett, Alice was the daughter of William and Margaret (MacKenzie) Sykes. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Francis M. Killion in 2010.

Alice leaves two daughters, Janet, wife of Daniel Ewick and Lorinda Ann Killion of Holden; granddaughters, Sarah A. Ewick and her husband, Arlo Crawford of San Francisco, Lindsay A. Kern and her husband, Andrew, of Newton, Jaclyn M. Lombardo and her husband, Joseph, of Brighton; a great granddaughter, Ellery Alice Kern of Newton; her sisters, Ruth Laderman and her husband, Arvid of Spencer, Helen S. Watling of Cincinnati; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, William and Donald Sykes, and her sisters, Mary Ann Warren and Margaret McGourty.

Alice was a lifelong homemaker who centered her life around her family. A marvelous cook, she also led an active life that included golf, yoga and dance. She enjoyed music, painting, poetry, flowers and especially looked forward to family vacations at the Cape. Alice had a unique style and appreciation for beauty in every aspect of her life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s own choosing. Funeral arrangements are private and under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
