Subscription Update Obituary

   Willis E. “Bill” Russell, Jr., of Worcester, died August 1, at Medical City surrounded by his loving family.

   He leaves his wife Florence “Ginny” (Hill) Russell, three sons, David Russell of Wisconsin, Daniel Russell of New York, and Willies E. Russell III of Worcester; two brothers, George Russell of Athol and Gary Russell of California; four sisters, Thelma Cummings of Leominster, Marion Aubin of Sterling, Grace Firito of Sterling, and Judith Leger of Florida; several grandchildren, nephews and nieces. A fourth son, James Russell, died in 1982. He is also predeceased by a brother, Herbert Russell. Born up in Sterling on Jan. 31, 1929, he was the son of the late Willis E. and Anna (Baithrow) Russell. He grew up in Sterling and attended high school in Clinton. He also attended the former Worcester Industrial Technical Institute (WITI).

   Bill was a self-employed carpenter and building contractor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

   A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Worcester County memorial Park, Paxton. Rice Funeral Home, 300 Park Ave, is directing arrangements.
