Subscription Update Obituary

     William L. LeMay, 94, of Liberty Lane, died Sunday, January 1, 2012, in his home.  He was predeceased by his wife, Marion (Frazier) LeMay of Oxford, who died in 2002; and his step-daughter, Kathleen (Thrush) Sell of Grafton, Ohio, who died in 1999. He is survived by two step-sons, Richard Thrush of New York and Dennis Thrush of Worcester; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Mr. LeMay was born in 1917 in Green Island, NY.  He lived in Winchendon and Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1959. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 44th Infantry Division, in the E.T.O., France, Germany, and Austria. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, two Bronze Star Medals, and four Battle Stars, in addition to other awards.

Mr. LeMay worked at the Supreme Coat Company in Worcester for 22 years, retiring in 1980.  He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5663 in Oxford, the American Legion Post 58 in Oxford, and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 53.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.  Military burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, with the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard participating.  A calling hour will be Tuesday, January 3, 2012, from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post 5663, 20 Federal Hill Rd., Oxford, MA  01540, or to the American Legion Post 58, 227 Main St., Oxford, MA  01540.
