Subscription Update Obituary

William Joseph (David) Carr, age 91, of Holden, joined the love of his life/wife Mary Louise (Davis) Carr in eternal peace on Monday, July 7, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

He was born to the late Thomas and Anna (Purcell) Carr on January 14, 1934, in Boston, MA. He and his family moved to Worcester, MA in 1945.

After graduating junior college Bill worked as a draftsman for Morgan’s Construction Company for 43 years. He also worked part time for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette in the Circulation Dept. for 30 years. He was a member of Morgan’s Men’s Club and the Retired Men’s Club of Greendale. He loved traveling the world with his beloved wife, watching the Red Sox, football, boxing, golf, tennis, and was a political junkie. He enjoyed playing pitch with friends in many locations in Holden and the surrounding areas. Bill also enjoyed playing cribbage with his family and friends. He always had a story to tell, loved life, being around friends/family and was a bright light to many.

Bill (William) was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mary Louise (Davis) Carr whom he shared a beautiful life with up until her death on December 26, 2021. He was also predeceased by his brothers Francis Carr, David Carr and a sister Evelyn (Carr) Lohnes and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He is survived by his loving children Kathleen Hackett of Worcester and her husband Paul, Jeanne Malone of Oxford and her husband Donald, Dianne Steadman of Ayer and her husband Paul, Carolyn Maurello of Holden and her husband Micheal, Rosemary Sposato of Worcester and her husband Robert and Laura Meola of Worcester and her husband Alan;13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren with two more on the way as well as his cousins, many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and so many dear friends.

He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

A funeral service honoring William’s life will be held at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street Holden on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with a burial to immediately follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
