William G. White, 78, of 12 Winthrop Lane, died Sunday, September 17, in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Priscilla B. (Bouchard) White; his brother, Donald L. White and his wife Claire of Rutland; several nephews and nieces. A brother, James G. White, and a sister, Pearl R. Evans, predeceased him. He was born in Ware, son of Samuel and Albina (LeBlanc) White, and lived many years in Worcester before moving to Holden 37 years ago. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. White was a self-employed finish carpenter in the Wachusett area for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He also taught carpentry for several years at Avon Vocational School in Avon. He was an ardent antique tool and mineral collector and enjoyed painting folk art with watercolors, building and painting furniture and antiquing.
A graveside service for Mr. White will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 77 Cambridge Street, Worcester, MA 01603; or Pug Rescue of New England, c/o Doris Aldrich, 17 Jones Road, Pelham, MA 01002. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, is directing arrangements.
