    William F. Woods, 64, of 24 Smithville Rd., died Saturday, April 8 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla., after being stricken ill.

    He leaves his wife of 37 years, Doris A. (Kresco) Woods; a daughter, Theresa A. Klosek of Spencer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Joseph Woods of Auburn.

    Born in Worcester, he was the son of Joseph and Margaret (Martin) Woods. Mr. Woods was a police officer and began his 32 year career working at the Leicester Police Department then the Auburn Police Department and retiring from the Spencer Police Department in 1995. He was a member of the Massachusetts Police, South Massachusetts Police and Eastern Connecticut Police Associations, and a former member of M.C.O.P. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Spencer and enjoyed spending his winters in Melbourne, Fla.
