Subscription Update Obituary

     Warren P. Staples, 88, of Bowling Green Lane, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester.

     His wife of 58 years, Winifred (Reece) Staples, died in 2003.

     Warren leaves behind one daughter, Patricia J. wife of Douglas W. Smith of Webster; two sons: Michael J. Staples of Dudley and David H. Staples and his wife Stacy of Worcester; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His long time companion, Ruth E. Beatty, died in July 2011.

     Warren was born in Worcester, a son of David H. and Hazel (Pierce) Staples and lived in Worcester most of his life. He was a WWII Army veteran and saw action in the invasion of Normandy through the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Bronze Star recipient.

     Warren worked for New England Telephone for over 40 years, before he retired. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, American Legion Post# 184 in Webster, VFW Post# 3663 in Oxford and VFW Post in Worcester, the Texas Ombres, a member of the Moose Lodge in St. James City, Pine Island, Florida. where he wintered for many years.

     The Funeral will be Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10 AM in the Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St., Webster. Burial, with Military Honors provided by the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard, will be at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Visitation Hours will be Monday, December 26, 2011 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: American Cancer Society , 30 Speen St., of American Heart Association , 20 Speen St., both Framingham, MA. 01701.
