Subscription Update Obituary

   Walter T. Nichols, Jr., 89, formerly of Holden St., died Monday, January 7, 2008, at the Lutheran Home of Worcester. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Walter T. Nichols, Sr. and Lillian (Petterson) Nichols, and was an Army Veteran of World War II. Walter worked for 17 years as a shipper at the former G. E. Stimpson, Inc., retiring in 1980. He previously worked for 10 years repairing typewriters at the Royal Typewriter Co. in Worcester. Before that, he worked several years as a brakeman and a conductor with the New Haven Railroad.

   He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Rita M. (Pruneau) Nichols, on September 4, 1991; his sisters, E. Louise Chaffin of Maine, Grace Viator of Indiana and a half sister Barbara Nichols. Surviving are several nieces and nephews and a half brother Ralph Nichols.

   A CALLING HOUR will be from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. on FRIDAY, Jan. 11, at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St., immediately followed by a FUNERAL MASS at 12 Noon in ST. GEORGE'S CHURCH, 38 Brattle St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.

   The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Lutheran Home and hospice nurse Nanci for the quality of care received during Walter's illness.
