Subscription Update Obituary

Walter N. Loomer, 86, of Ft. Lauderdale Florida, formerly of Worcester, passed away Sunday, February 4th at his home in Florida.

Walter’s wife and best friend, Claire (DesLaurier) Loomer, passed away in 1985. He is survived by his devoted children, Brian K. Loomer and his wife Celeste of Pembroke Pines, Fl, Sandra J. Quercio and her husband Frederick of Ft Lauderdale, Joyce E. DiNardo and her husband Victor, Wayne V. Loomer and his wife Paula all of Shrewsbury; eight adored grandchildren, Lisa Gough, Mark and Jason Quercio, Nick DiNardo, Michael, Alexis, Cory, and Matthew Loomer; eight great-grandchildren, Sarah, Joey, Danny, Emma, Elizabeth, Andrew, Olivia, and Travis; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. A brother, Phillip Loomer predeceased him. Walter was born in Worcester, served with the U.S. Marines in Okinawa, during World War II, and lived in Worcester until moving to Ft Lauderdale in 1989.

Walter loved to play cribbage. He and his wife were avid RV recreationalists. He was also a member of Pope John Council Knights of Columbus.

Walter worked more than 30 years for the Duralite Corporation in Grafton before retiring as plant manager in 1986.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, Saturday, February 10th in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street. A Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m.

Burial will be private. Walter will be laid to rest next to his wife in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Care of Southeast Florida, 309 S.E. 18th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316.
