Subscription Update Obituary

    Walter F. Nordgren, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 21, 2010, at Autumn Village after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Loretta P. (Garney) Nordgren; two children: Kevin F. Nordgren and his wife, Meryl, of Worcester; Lisa Nordgren-Fortin of Worcester; 4 grandchildren: Matthew, Daniel, and Nicole Fortin and Dominic Lelgeman; 2 great grandchildren: Zoey Pratt-Fortin and Gabriella Fortin.

    Walter was born in Worcester and was predeceased by his parents, Svea Antonnson Nordgren-Duvall and Carl Nordgren and a half-sister, Thyra Ohlsson of Sweden.

    Mr. Nordgren was employed by Norton Co. and Service Station Maintenance, and then Morgan Construction (Siemens) for 17 years, before finally retiring in 1993. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Stephen's Parish. Walter enjoyed bowling, working on autos and building things with wood. He also enjoyed spending time at the Cape and Plattsburgh, NY. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

    The family would like to offer their appreciation for the kindness and exceptional assistance received by the staff at the Autumn Village and Hospice Services.

    Funeral services will be held Friday, June 25, from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street with an 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial with military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel Thursday, June 24, from 5-8 p.m.
