Subscription Update Obituary

   W. Whitney Barry, 87, of Worcester, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at UMass Memorial – Memorial Campus.

   He leaves his wife, Eunice M. (Soderberg) Barry, many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A brother, Robert Barry and a sister, Frances Perron, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Wilfred T. and Beatrice P. (Perry) Barry, and lived here all his life.

   Whitney was a truck driver for the City of Worcester Sanitation Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, a member and past Commander of the 319 American Legion Greendale Post, and a member of the MA Retired Employees Local 495.

   The funeral will be held Friday, June 20th, at 10:00 am at RICE FUNERAL HOME, 300 Park Ave., Worcester. Pastor Andrew Borden of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Ave., Worcester, MA 01606.
