Subscription Update Obituary

   Virginia R. (Johnson) DeWitt, 84, of 68 Reservoir St., died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in Holden Nursing Home, after an illness.

   Her husband of 57 years, Walter H. DeWitt, died in 2005. She leaves her son, Richard H. DeWitt and his wife Georgianna of Holden; a daughter, Elaine Morrison and her husband John of Leicester; a sister, Susan K. Witter of Auburn; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Victor M. and Elsie (Killerby) Johnson, and lived in Shrewsbury before moving to Holden in 1962. She was a graduate of Auburn High School.

   Mrs. DeWitt worked in the personnel department of the Worcester Public Schools System for several years. She was a member of Chaffin Congregational Church and its Mary Martha Circle. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed knitting.

   Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 23rd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral service for Mrs. DeWitt will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 24th, in the Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury St., Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chaffin Congregational Church, Memorial Fund, 155 Shrewsbury St., Holden, MA 01520.
