Subscription Update Obituary

Virginia I Caricchio, 81, formerly of Fairview Ave, and a resident of Christopher Heights in Webster for a week died Monday, March 21,2011 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after a short Illness. She leaves her caregivers and nieces Mary E. Leboeuf of Dudley and Elizabeth Paulauskas of Webster. Several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews .Virginia leaves a host of dear friends and teacher colleagues. Predeceased by brothers Frank ,Vincent, Joseph, Anthony ,John and Ernest . Two sisters Evelyn and Mary.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Reaffeala (Altieri) Caricchio. She entered the convent and studied to earn her bachelors degree with the Venerini Sisters order from 1949 to 1970 . Virginia went on to her calling as an elementary school teacher with the diocese in Albany NY and Providence RI before enjoying 21 years with the Southbridge School System . She taught K-8th grade retiring in 1990 after 42 total years of service as an educator. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua church and Delta Kapa Gama Society of Upsilon State. Virginia loved to travel , read and enjoyed Italian cooking and dining out .

Her funeral will be held Friday March 25 from Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley with a Mass at 11 AM in St. Anthony Of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Rd., Dudley. Burial after cremation will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours at the funeral home are on Thursday March 24 from 5 to 8 PM Please Omit flowers Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
