Subscription Update Obituary

   Violet M. (Merchant) O'Hearn, age 91, of Paxton died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, following a short illness. She was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Brown) Merchant.

   Her husband, W. Robert O'Hearn, died in 1993. She leaves her son, Bill O'Hearn and his wife Phyllis of Rutland; two daughters, Patti Cutting and her husband Ken, and Judy Clockedile and her husband Art all of Paxton; 12 grandchildren, Michael O'Hearn of Acton, CT, Beth Gobeille and her husband Scott of Billercay, Essex, England, Laurie Sheridan and her husband Rick of Pepperell, Kathy Kenda and her husband Gary of Paxton, Mark Clockedile and his wife Nancy of Oakham, Brian Clockedile and his wife Heather of Rutland, Lynn Mannila of Paxton, Sharen Shipley and her husband Robert of Stamford, CT, Kathi McCarthy and her husband Tim of Westminster; Craig Cutting and his wife Lorraine of Paxton, Curt Cutting and his wife Cindi of Templeton and Kerry Riedle and her husband Tracy of Rutland; and 25 great-grandchildren.

   Vi was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. She was employed for many years at Anna Marie College in Paxton. Following retirement she became a homemaker dedicated to her late husband, Bob, and to her children and grandchildren. Vi was an avid Red Sox fan and was thrilled to see her team win two World Series. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Paxton for over 50 years. She especially enjoyed her time spent on Cape Cod and her many visits to Vermont. Vi was an avid gardener and took pride in maintaining her grounds.

   The funeral Mass for Vi will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 11th, in St. Columba Church, 18 Richards Ave., Paxton. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, is directing arrangements.
