Vincent Walter Berg, 68, died Saturday June 18, 2011 in St. Vincent’s Hospital after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 40 years, Helene M. (Snow) Berg; 3 daughters, Caroline M. Hennings and her husband CMDR Chad F. Hennings, Suzanne E. Vantre and her husband David A. Vantre, and Jennifer E. Brito and her husband Manuel Brito, a loving brother, Russell A. Berg and his wife Shirley; 8 grandchildren, Dannica, Jack, Rory, and Joseph Hennings, Erin Vantre, and Nicholas, Daniel and Thomas Brito, and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Worcester, son of Walter and Ellen (Fredrickson) Berg, he graduated from Commerce High School in 1963, then served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis as a Petty Officer aboard the USS Purdy.

He lived in Worcester most of his life, before moving to Brookfield. Vincent was employed at Pioneer Oil for many years. Vincent was a loving, caring father and husband who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, enjoyed his dogs, and loved watching the Red Sox.

A funeral service will be held June 22, 2011 from Caswell-King Funeral Home, 474 Grove St., Worcester with a 10 am. Mass in St. George’s Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester Co. Memorial Park. Calling hours will be from 5-7 pm. Tuesday June 21 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Red Cross Tornado Relief Fund.
