Subscription Update Obituary

   Vernon G. Clay, 91, of 65 Briarwood Circle, died Wednesday, May 7th in the Life Care Center of Auburn. His wife of 66 years, Anita A. (Auger) Clay died in 2005. He leaves two daughters, Maureen A. Grady and her husband Robert H. of Auburn and Barbara A. Yaeger and her husband Robert G. of Worcester; two son-in-laws, Gerald Reardon of Worcester and Francis Moran of Framingham; fourteen grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and several nephews and nieces. His daughter Virginia F. Reardon died July 7, 2002 and his daughter Pauline Y. Moran died August 26, 2005. Two brothers, Clarence C. Clay and Robert L. Clay and his sister, Hilda Currier predeceased him.

   He was born in Baileyville, ME, the son of Alfred B. and Ruby E. (Gardner) Clay. Mr. Clay was a 1934 graduate of Washington Academy in East Mechias, ME, attended Northeastern University and was a 1941 graduate of Worcester Junior College. He was employed by the Norton Company as an engineer for 41 years until his retirement in 1980. Mr. Clay was a member of First Congregational Church. He enjoyed woodcarving and collecting stamps.

   The funeral is Saturday, May 10th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 AM in First Congregational Church, 1070 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held the morning of the funeral from 9:30 until 10:30 in the funeral home.
