Charlton – Vera May (St. Pierre) LaPlante, 69, of 12 Flint Road, a retired optical company worker, died Tuesday, July 3, at her home, after an illness.

 

Her husband, Richard J. LaPlante, died in 1984. She leaves three sons, Edward J., Paul G. and Brian L. LaPlante, all of Charlton; a daughter, Brenda J. Needs of Stoughton; a brother Ray St. Pierre of Worcester; four sisters, Irene Bond of Barre, Marion Brickey in Maine, and Jean Boudreau and Alice Lovely, both of Worcester; eight grandchildren; nephews and nieces.

 

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Charles E. and Avis K. (Flanders) St. Pierre, and graduated from Fanning High School, Worcester.

 

Mrs. LaPlante was a closed cell operator at American Optical Co., Southbridge, for more than 20 years, retiring in 1992. She also worked part-time for Dad’s Restaurant.

 

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 6, in Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

 

Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 5, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Program, c/o Harrington Memorial Hospital Home Care Department, 61 Pine Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.
