Valma A. “Val” (Hebert) Dion, 83 of Fiske St. died at home Friday after an illness. Her husband was the late Roger E. Dion who died in Jan. 2006. She leaves her son Paul R. Dion, 2 grandsons Matthew and Michael Dion and a sister Leonette Hebert all of Southbridge, and a brother Maurice Hebert of Santa Barbara, CA. She was born in Fall River, daughter of Aristide and Rosanna (Ross) Hebert and has lived here since 1936. Mrs. Dion retired from the American Optical Co. and later worked at the former Rise N Shine Bakery in Southbridge. She was a member of Notre Dame Church and enjoyed playing cards. The funeral Mass will be held on Wed. April 4 at 10AM in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St. Southbridge. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private. Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy St., Southbridge is directing the arrangements.
