Subscription Update Obituary

   Thomas V. Cardwell, Jr., 70, of Templeton, formerly of Worcester, died Friday, March 27th in UMass-Memorial Hospital.

   He leaves his wife, Rita H. (McCann) Cardwell; his daughter, Donna M. (Cardwell) Grimshaw and her husband, James of Boynton Beach, FL; four sons: Thomas J. Cardwell of Millbury, Dennis J. and his wife Mary Cardwell of Leominster, Wayne M. Cardwell of Worcester and James A. Cardwell of Milford; 14 grandchildren and five step-children. His wife, Pauline E. (Gallant) Cardwell, died in 1998; a brother, Dennis J. Cardwell and a sister, Adele (Cardwell) Wheeler, also predeceased him.

   He was born in Worcester, the son of Thomas V. Cardwell, Sr. and Emma (Pastorelli) Cardwell; was a graduate of the former High School of Commerce and had served in the United States Navy. Mr. Cardwell had owned and operated Cardwell Trucking for many years before retiring. He was a member of Potter’s House, Teamsters Local 170, Vernon Hill Post 435, American Legion and VFW Post 3657.

   The funeral is Monday, March 30th with a service at 10:00 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, March 29th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
