Thomas J. Ford Jr, 78, died on Thursday, May 1, 2025 in Mass General Brigham’s in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Sally (Stankiewicz) Ford.
He is survived by his cherished family. A son Thomas J. Ford III; his daughter Tammie Landry & her husband Jim; his son Sean Ford; grandchildren Michelle Bland, David Bland, Hannah Sullivan-Ford, Adeline Ford, and Shannon Landry; 2 great grandchildren; his Stepson Al Letendre, Jenn and their children Patrick and Mary. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas J. Ford Sr. and Claudia B. (Fitzler) Ford; his daughter Katherine J. Ford-Droney; a stepson Nathan Letendre and his former wife Noreen.
Tom was born in Boston October 9,1946 and was raised in Woburn. He graduated from Woburn High School and worked for the family business before joining the Massachusetts State Police in 1968. Tom had a remarkable career with the MA State Police working in various aspects of the job. He spent a good portion of his career working in narcotic enforcement along with his partners in the DEA. Tom retired from the MA State Police as a Detective Lieutenant in 1998. He missed the job but remained in touch with many of his old buddies from the MSP often sharing some interesting stories of the “good old days”. After retiring Tom opened a consulting and investigation business but he realized that there was something left on his career bucket list, his love for the law. Tom went to the Massachusetts School of Law and soon thereafter became an attorney. He was still licensed and practicing up until his death.
Tom loved his family and would never miss any milestone event. With grown children who all had their own families, Thanksgiving became an important family holiday where everyone would get together to celebrate. Tom was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
Second to his love for family was Tom’s love for music. Tom was a singer, songwriter and entertainer. He would always seize the moment to grab his guitar and start playing for a couple of people or a whole audience. Tom was a natural entertainer and loved the stage.
Tom and Sally had a unique and loving bond, they enjoyed exploring all that the west coast of Florida had to offer, most importantly the sunshine and beaches as well as making new friends and hanging with old friends. When up north they both loved being on the water and hanging out with good friends, but both especially loved being back home with family.
