Subscription Update Obituary

    Theresa A. (Burns) Wentzell, 74, of Worcester, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 in the Millbury Healthcare Center surrounded by her family.

    Her husband of 44 years, Donald M. Wentzell, died in 2000.

    She leaves three sons: Stephen F. Wentzell and his wife Judith, James P. Wentzell and his wife Elaine, and David J. Wentzell and his wife Nancy; a brother, John J. Burns, all of Worcester; and six grandchildren: Garrett, Connor, Lauren, Kelcie, Alyson and Sarah Wentzell; and many cousins, including Francis Beirne in Co. Sligo, Ireland and Kitty Garvey in Co. Clare, Ireland. Her brother, Francis X. Burns, predeceased her.

    She was born in Worcester, daughter of Patrick J. and Delia (Murphy) Burns and lived in Worcester all her life. She graduated from St. Stephen's High School.

    She was a lifelong member of the former St. Margaret Mary Parish. She belonged to the Legion of Mary and was a charter member of her local chapter of the Red Hat Society.

    Theresa was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed the pleasure of visiting her relatives in Ireland on numerous occasions. She also enjoyed vacationing in Maine.

    Theresa was dedicated to her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

    Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Wednesday, March 31 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 1 from the funeral home with a Liturgy of the Word at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston 02215 or St. John's High School, 378 Main St., Shrewsbury 01545.
