Teresita Durkan, 62, passed away Wednesday, October 23.
Teresita was born in Worcester and graduated from Holy Name High School. She received her degree from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. She was a home caretaker for many years, prior to that she worked as a medical secretary at AdCare Hospital. Teresita was active in the AA Recovery Community in Worcester where she built a beautiful community. She was an avid collector of antiques, loved crocheting, and crafts of all kinds. Sundays were reserved for family dinners where she and the girls caught up on the latest Hollywood gossip. She had an uncanny superpower of making fast friends. You only had to meet her one time to become her bosom buddy.
She leaves four children, Valerie DiFabio and her husband, Bryan of Worcester, Michelle Mullaney of Leominster, Erin Szczesuil and her husband, Daniel of Leicester, and Derek Mullaney and his fiancé, Sofia Dobner Pereira of Hadley; her companion with whom she lived, John Mullaney; her mother, Mary-Ellen (Joyce) Durkan of Leicester; six siblings, John K. Durkan of Leicester, Liam A. Durkan of Leicester, Anne M. Hyland and her husband, Joseph of Dublin, NH, Mary E. Muskopf and her husband, Dave of Moultonborough NH, Anthony P. Durkan of Marshfield, and Kevin M. Durkan and his wife, Alissa of Worcester and many nieces and nephews who she lovingly adored. She was predeceased by her son, Marc-e A. Dulmaine, and her father John Durkan.
Visiting Hours are Wednesday, October 30 from 4 to 7pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 31 at 11am in St. Bernard’s Church, 235 Lincoln St. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (https://alzfdn.org/donate/).
