Sven F. Schang, 85, formerly of Nola Drive, Holden, passed away November 28, 1993 in the Odd Fellows Home in Worcester after an illness.
His wife of 56 years, Leona C. (Michaud) Schang, died in 1988. He leaves a son Robert S. Schang of Brookfield, Ct; a daughter L. Eleanor McDonald of Worcester; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was born in Sweden, and lived 40 years in Holden before moving to Worcester recently.
Sven was a production foreman at Norton Co. in Worcester, where he worked for 33 years, retiring in 1969. Then drove a bus for the city of Worcester.
He was a member of Birka Lodge, Order of Vikings. He was a member of Quinsigamond Lodge of Masons; the Scottish Rite Bodies; Worcester Lodge of Perfection; Goddard Council, Princes of Jeruselem; Lawrence Chapter of Rose Croix; Massachusetts Consistory; Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington; and the Worcester County Shrine Club. Sven played candlepin and ten-pin bowling for many years, and received many awards. He played for many years with Norton Co. in the Industrial League, and also played in the Worcester City League. He won the Jack Maskell Tournament in Worcester two years in a row. He also won the Schaeffer Fishing Tournament on Cape Cod for Saltwater Bass fishing.
