Subscription Update Obituary

Susan G. Lacey of Rutland passed away from natural causes on August 18, 2025, in the comfort of her home. She was born in Worcester on May 4, 1948, daughter of the late John L. Underwood and Edith L. Underwood (Hewitt). She grew up in Auburn before becoming a resident of Rutland for the past fifty-three years.

Susan worked as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper for a number of years at various companies including Worcester County Memorial Park. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland for many years.

She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph J. Lacey.

She will be affectionately remembered and missed by her two sons, David J. Lacey and his wife Lisa of Holden, and Robert J, Lacey and his wife Rebecca of Irvington, NY, three grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Courtney, Mariah and Abraham, her sisters, Joyce M. Spetz and her husband John of Bakersfield, CA and Lois A. Cherry of Cottageville, SC, her beloved golden retriever Bella, her dearest friends, Jackie Brierly of Auburn and Noreen Chuplis of Charlton.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street Holden from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
