Susan C. (Brunelle) Murphy, 56, of Worcester passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Daniel W. Murphy and her sons, Daniel Jr. and his wife Erica (Lohnes) Murphy, Kyle Murphy and Ryan Murphy all of Worcester and her granddaughter Ella Murphy. Susan leaves her sisters and brothers, Janice Dillon of Worcester, Robert and his wife Karen Brunelle of Largo, FL, George and his wife Sharron Brunelle of Brookfield, Donna Lennon of Worcester, Paul and his wife Linda Brunelle of Worcester, Charles and his wife Marilyn Brunelle of Pinellas Park, FL, Michael Brunelle and his partner Cindy McCarthy of Largo, FL. Susan is predeceased by her mother and father, Luna (Spaulding) and George Brunelle; her brothers, William “Rusty” Brunelle, Ronald Brunelle and Richie Brunelle all of Worcester and her sisters, Frances Desmaris of Worcester and Marie Pearson of Marshfield. She also leaves her brother in law, Richard and his wife Dianne (Savageau) Murphy of Oxford; her sister in law, Cindy Murphy and her partner John Gonsalves; and her father in law, Daniel O. Murphy of Shrewsbury and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Susan was born in Worcester and grew up in Greendale on Indian Lake “Island” and graduated from Burncoat High School. She worked for Astra Pharmaceutical, and Price Chopper Supermarket; she created, owned and operated her own coffee and sandwich shop, “Murphy’s General Store” in Holden.
She was an avid sports fan following all of the local Boston Teams. Susan loved to read, and particularly loved the large family gatherings. She enjoyed Bingo at St. Bernard’s and St. Christopher’s Churches and especially loved vacationing with her family at Horseneck Beach in Westport.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 18, at 10 AM in CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours are Wednesday, August 17, from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Assoc., 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.
