Stephen J. Mazzola, 57, of Templeton, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010 in UMass Hospital.

Stephen is survived by his fiancé, Gayle F. Crowley; a daughter, Lyndsay M. Mazzola of Watertown, MA; two sons, Craig S. Mazzola of Sacramento, CA and Chad J. Mazzola of Cambridge, MA; a step-brother, Gene Dinan of Billerica; a step-sister, Christine Deveau of Medway; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a step-sister, Stefanie Quiles. Stephen was born in Leominster, son of the late Gerard and Barbra (Pierce) Mazzola and graduated from Leominster High School.

Stephen has been working for Liberty Mutual for thirty-two years as a damage appraiser.  He enjoyed NASCAR, visiting Maine and going to beaches.  He was enthusiastic about cars and restoring them to their original glory, including his ’66 Pontiac 2 plus 2.

He was a loving, caring, friendly person who will be missed by his family, friends and his extended family of co-workers at Liberty Mutual. He will be remembered with love and be sadly missed by the entire Fields Family.

Stephen’s family would like to extend a very special “thank you” to the nurses, doctors and pastoral care chaplains at UMass Hospital and the dedicated staffers of 3, 6 and 7 ICU, who showed extra special care in the family’s time of need.

Calling hour for Stephen will be held Saturday morning, November 27, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., followed immediately by his Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  Interment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
