Subscription Update Obituary

   Stanley B. Alexander, 88, of 34 Upper Gore Road, died Thursday, July 06, 2006 at home after an illness. His wife, Beatrice C. (Cote) Alexander, died in 1985.   He left a son, Bruce Alexander of Webster; a daughter, Linda L. Hoffman and her husband, Peter of Charlton; and a granddaughter, Carrie A. Hoffman.   He was born and raised in Lebanon, NH, the son of Charles and Anna J. (Hokkanen) Alexander. He graduated from Lebanon High School. He later earned his college degree in engineering.He was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a captain.Mr. Alexander was a head engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers, retiring as the basin manager of the New England Division of the Army Corps of Engineers in 1978. He was in charge of constructing the Buffumville Dam in Charlton. He also oversaw other similar projects in Vermont and in various locations.   The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Cohen and the staff of the Fallon Clinic in Webster for their compassionate caring for Stanley. They also appreciate all the help they received from Stanley’s neighbors, the Kirk, Mazeika and Jackel families.

   A graveside service was held at the convenience of the family in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Donations in his name may be made to VNA Hospice Care, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608 Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
