Subscription Update Obituary

Shirley L. (Kitchings) Ovitt, 85, of Auburn, died Friday, December 2nd, 2011 in her home with her family by her side. Her husband of 62 years, Ernest R. Ovitt, Sr., died in May.

She leaves her children, Erin Russell Ovitt and her companion, Brian Cobb of Auburn, with whom she lived, Peggy L. Ovitt Lucier and her husband Wilfred of New Hampshire, and Warren T. Ovitt and his wife Marilyn of Worcester; two sisters, Sylvene DeLibertis and her husband Ronald of Northborough and Betty Kitchings Fox of FL; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by four sisters.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Hillie and Alice (Keenan) Kitchings and graduated from the Beverly School for the Deaf. She was a member of the Worcester Chapter of the New England Chapter for the Deaf.

Shirley was a kind and generous spirit, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The funeral is Tuesday, December 6th with a service at 11:00 A.M. in St. Matthews Church, 695 Southbridge Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. in the church. Donations in her memory may be sent to 37R Hampton Street, Auburn, MA 01501. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, is directing arrangements.
